Princess Anne Country Club was established in 1916 and sits just two blocks from the Atlantic Ocean in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Club is a full-service facility with 18 holes of golf, six practice putting surfaces, and a driving range. Princess Anne also offers twelve tennis courts, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, formal and casual dining, and full banquet service. The golf course was opened in 1920 with ties to Willie Park Jr. and was renovated in 1986 by Ault and Clark. In 2007, Tim Liddy, a protégé of Pete Dye, was tasked with a complete renovation that included a new design and infrastructure. The golf course is continually evaluated for improvements, including the Better Billy System in bunkers, Renovated tees, a new short-game practice area, and continued long-term improvement plans. Course and Team information: Greens: A4 bentgrass Fairways, and Rough: 419 Bermudagrass, Tees: Zeon Zoysia Irrigation System: Rainbird with Cirrus Pro Control GCM Team members: 18 Full-time, 15 seasonal. The position is designed to strengthen the candidate's skills and prepare them for advancement in the turfgrass industry. AIT will work closely with the superintendent and his assistants in all aspects of course maintenance. Areas of intense training will include chemical and fertilizer applications, irrigation scheduling and maintenance, scouting, tournament and daily course preparation, and routine maintenance. The AIT can experience all aspects of a high-level maintenance operation, focusing on career advancement.
Primary Responsibilities
To assist the Director of Golf Course Maintenance and the Golf Course Superintendent in all aspects of golf course management.
Act as the Golf Course Superintendent when they are not available.
Keep complete records related to groundwater withdrawal permitting.
Proper set-up of the golf course for member/guest play.
Schedule bathroom and break room cleaning responsibilities
Keep hand tools, motor-powered tools, and equipment inventoried and properly stored.
Keep safety supplies inventoried and stocked
Monitor bunker rakes and replace them as necessary
Attend morning meetings 20 minutes before start time to understand daily team goals
Make employee and member/guest satisfaction and safety a top priority.
Secondary Responsibilities
All secondary responsibilities of Turfgrass Technician II.
Aerify greens, fairways, and tees with specialized equipment.
Apply Fertilizer/Plant protectants under the supervision of the license holder when requested
Operate tractor-mounted implements.
Moisture management on putting surfaces.
Assist with special projects.
Perform related tasks as required.
Performance Standards
Maintain and operate equipment in a safe, efficient manner.
Accurately finish jobs in a reasonable amount of time.
Maintain an excellent attendance record.
Wear uniforms properly.
Report any unsafe conditions or acts to the most available supervisor.
Report equipment problems to the Equipment Manager or supervisor.
Assist in keeping a clean, safe shop and work environment..
Exercise proper etiquette when around club members and guests anywhere on the club properly.
Qualifications
Certificate or higher from an accredited turf institution
Hold or have the ability to attain a Virginia Pesticide Applicators License
Ability to understand and interpret instructions and policies. General understanding of motorized golf course equipment
Knowledge: Playing knowledge of the game of golf is preferred but not required
Working Conditions
Requires indoor and outdoor work with extreme heat/humidity and cold weather exposure.
