Overview: Cress Creek Country Club is seeking a dedicated and experienced Equipment Manager, to oversee the efficient and effective operation of all turf maintenance equipment at the golf course. The ideal candidate is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and inventory management of the golf course machinery, ensuring that all equipment is in optimal working condition to support the groundskeeping team in providing a high-quality playing surface.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance:
Develop and execute a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all golf course equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and other machinery.
Conduct regular inspections, diagnose mechanical issues, and perform necessary repairs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
Collaborate with equipment manufacturers and dealerships to stay updated on the latest maintenance practices and technological advancements.
Inventory Management:
Maintain an accurate inventory of all golf course equipment, parts, and supplies.
Establish and implement a system for tracking equipment usage, maintenance records, and replacement schedules.
Coordinate with the golf course superintendent to order and stock necessary spare parts to ensure timely repairs.
Staff Training and Supervision:
Train and supervise equipment maintenance staff, providing guidance on proper equipment operation, safety procedures, and maintenance practices.
Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and teamwork within the equipment maintenance team.
Budget Management:
Assist in developing the annual equipment maintenance budget, including estimates for repairs, replacements, and upgrades.
Monitor expenses and ensure cost-effective maintenance practices while meeting quality standards.
Communication and Collaboration:
Work closely with the golf course superintendent and other department heads to coordinate equipment usage schedules and prioritize maintenance tasks.
Communicate effectively with groundskeeping staff to address equipment-related concerns and provide solutions promptly.
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay informed about relevant environmental and safety regulations related to equipment operation and maintenance.
Ensure that all equipment complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in equipment maintenance, preferably in a golf course or similar setting.
Strong knowledge of turf maintenance equipment, hydraulic systems, and diesel engines.
Technical proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues.
Leadership and supervisory skills to manage a team effectively.
Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
Budget management experience.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Technical or vocational training in equipment maintenance (preferred).
Cress Creek Country Club was established in 1963 as Illinois’ first residential golf course and designed by David Gill. The club consists of 18 holes, practice facilities, four clay tennis courts, and two pools. It was purchased by membership in 1988 and is currently the premier private family club in the Western suburbs of Chicago. With around 550 members, Cress Creek CC is a thriving club that most recently underwent a renovation in 2008 lead by golf course architect Ron Prichard. A new irrigation system was installed in 2008 as well.
