Overview
Dakota Trails Golf Course is a beautiful 9-hole golf course that is located 7 miles East of Corsica or 9 miles Northeast of Armour. We are 30 minutes Southwest of Mitchell and 80 Miles West of Sioux Falls. In 2016 we started a full course renovation with 9 new grass greens, rerouting of some holes and added distance to other holes. Since then, we have replaced ALL tee boxes and have also done many more renovations to the course. We have a Rain Bird Irrigation system that can be controlled remotely via computer or cell phone. Fall of 2024 we have also started a full clubhouse teardown and are currently building a new more modern clubhouse. We have an engaging membership list that supports and loves their local golf course.
Job Description and Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Board of Directors, the Superintendent plans, directs, supervises, and inspects all
aspects of maintenance and operations on the golf course.
• Maintains all grounds, including the golf course, clubhouse surrounds and other maintainable property.
• Manages the mowing, watering, and maintenance of tee boxes, greens, fairways, rough, etc.
• Application of chemicals, fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides.
• Responsible for the planting, fertilizing and maintenance of turf.
• Supervises the care and operation of the irrigation system and all course improvement projects.
• Orders supplies and materials within budgetary limitations. Recommends equipment for purchase to
be approved by the Board of Directors.
• Directs training for all Grounds staff and works with the Board of Directors facilitating hiring, selection,
and performance evaluations.
• Keeps records of annual maintenance activities. Prepares cost estimates for budget reports.
• Responsible for supervision of winter season preparation and equipment maintenance.
• Maintains regular communication with the Board of Directors and attends Board Meetings.
• Any other tasks or duties that may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Knowledge of the construction, maintenance, and operations of a golf course.
• Knowledge of safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Skill in operating golf course equipment, sprayers, fertilization, irrigation systems, and vehicles.
• Ability to supervise, plan, train, and delegate all tasks necessary for golf course operations.
• Ability to work varying hours that may be dependent on weather, tournaments, and special events.
• Although not required, a degree in agronomy, horticulture, turf management, is preferred.
• Experience with golf course operations preferred.
