Sawgrass Country Club is excited to offer an Assistant Superintendent candidate an opportunity to join a dynamic workplace committed to investing in our team and facilities. An ideal candidate would have 2-5 years of progressively increasing management experience, be capable of managing teams and scheduling workflow, and have a keen eye for detail.
The immediate future of Sawgrass Country Club will see investments in our Agronomic and Landscape Maintenance facility, the Golf Courses, and our campus landscape programs. This year, an improved maintenance facility will break ground, creating expanded staff and equipment storage areas. Additionally, the club has partnered with Fry/Straka Global Golf Design to create a golf course master plan for our 27-hole facility, anticipating breaking ground on the first nine holes in 2026. An additional nine holes will follow in 2027 and 2028, including a new irrigation system, USGA greens, bunkers, tees, and grassing.
This position collaborates with the assistant superintendents and superintendent and is directed by the Director of Agronomy. Responsibilities will include staff management/scheduling and quality control, implementation/application of our IPM programs, programming and data gathering for our irrigation systems, greens water management, and various other tasks. This position is well suited for someone on a Superintendent career path who wants to gain the experience needed to advance.
About Sawgrass Country Club
Founded in 1974, Sawgrass Country Club is a 27-hole, member-owned facility in beautiful Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The site of the 1977-1982 TPC tournament, Sawgrass Country Club is currently the host of the final round PGA Tour Q-School Finals. Sawgrass has a history of tournament golf and will provide the Assistant Superintendent with the experience of working alongside the PGA Tour officials and preparing a golf course for professional events.
Adjacent to the Guana River and Atlantic Ocean, the Sawgrass campus includes the main clubhouse, Beach Club, Tennis Club, and Fitness Club. This proximity to the beach makes Ponte Vedra Beach a wonderful place to work and live.
Requirements
- Turfgrass Certificate/Degree or comparable education
- At least 3 years of golf course maintenance experience
- Capable of obtaining a Florida Applicator License
- Experience in IPM applications and spraying
- Experience in Irrigation Repair
- Ability to perform physical work in an outdoor environment.
