NEHGC is hoping to hire an intern for the 2025 season. NEHGC is a semi-private, 18-hole, golf-only club nestled on Mount Desert Island and direct neighbor to Acadia National Park. The golf course offers a challenge for even the most skilled golfers while offering many scenic views. We maintain bentgrass/poa greens and bentgrass fairways to a high standard and continue to push every year for a better overall product. We are backed by a board of directors focused on advancing the club. A new irrigation system is on the docket for 2027.
As the intern, you will be put in a unique position to learn all facets of maintenance. There will be plenty of opportunity to learn and refine cultural practice skills, but we also want to make sure our intern is exposed to the rest of the operation. Irrigation repair, spraying, and mechanic skills will be a priority of teaching. Being shown our process of short-term and long-range planning is also key. Being the sole intern provides a great way to have all the attention on you to get ready for the next steps in the industry.
The ideal candidate is one who will show up every day with a great mindset and be willing to work hard. You'll always be learning in this industry, so doing your best to be a sponge and take in all is something to strive for.
Our intern will be seen as a priority and their time with us will be taken seriously for development. We're a team at NEHGC and although we have busy days, it's a priority to myself and my fellow management to incorporate fun into the day as well. Completing or recently completed a turf-related degree.
No experience required. We will teach everything. Knowledge of the game of golf is a plus.
