In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Director of Agronomy in ensuring top golf course conditions by maintaining all agronomy equipment, managing 5 maintenance shops, and department safety coordination. This will be accomplished by managing the equipment maintenance team, managing all costs and terms for equipment, repair parts, mechanic labor, and tools; working with vendors for equipment needs; and assisting with existing lease packages in conjunction with Senior Management. The focus of this job is on achieving results which are aligned with the larger picture of the organization and its strategic goals. The ideal candidate will possess at least 5 years of combined experience as a Golf Course Equipment Manager and/or Golf Course Superintendent and be a certified Turf Equipment Manager with the GCSAA. Have prior experience working with golf course maintenance crews, possess basic knowledge of turfgrass management, budget planning, and reel grindings.
A minimum two-year turf certificate in turf grass management from a recognized college or university and/or an associate's degree or higher from a recognized college or university preferred.
Certified pesticide applicator in the state of Arizona or the ability to obtain upon hire.
Must have a valid driver's license.
JOB DETAILS
Responsibilities:
Manage a team of 15 - 20 to include the Equipment Manager and Mechanic Team on all seven (7) golf courses plus Club Landscape.
Ensure correct Agronomy equipment performance.
Ensure proper data tracking of budget and parts history for R&M parts and tools.
Plan the year-round agronomic schedule to ensure equipment is available and correctly set up.
Maintain proper condition of Agronomy lease packages. Develop and prepare renewal of lease packages at term in conjunction and with the approval of Senior Management.
Decommission and dispose of fully depreciated agronomy equipment with Director and CFO.
Manage the onsite delivery of operating supplies.
Resolve equipment warranty issues with equipment dealers and/or manufacturers along with the Superintendent.
Develop and manage a safety program for all maintenance equipment and agronomy team and assist superintendents with administering training and record keeping.
Instruct staff in the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste.
Ensure records of equipment repair and maintenance are maintained by Mechanic III’s.
Set-up regular equipment maintenance schedules based on manufacturers recommendations.
Maintain adequate parts inventories.
Aid in the coordination of all projects between Superintendents, Director of Agronomy, Assistant Director of Agronomy, Director of Golf, Director of Facilities & Construction, Architects, Development Office, and the City of Scottsdale.
Ensure proper documentation and inspections are completed on fuel tanks above and below ground.
Maintain the water cycle plants at each shop for daily use with the Mechanic Team’s daily maintenance. Oversee repairs and costs.
Stay abreast of current industry standards, best practices, and current market trends for golf course maintenance.
Continue management skill training and career development with Desert Mountain Talent and Culture team along with equipment vendors and GCSAA.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Agronomy and Assistant Director of Agronomy.
