Forsyth Country Club, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina is seeking a turfgrass professional to join our leadership team within our Golf Course Maintenance Department as a Senior Assistant Superintendent. This candidate should be an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with the ability to quickly adjust and adapt to a dynamic working environment.

Annual Rounds: Approximately 32,000
Typical work schedule (excluding a couple major tournaments): In season - 40-50 hours per week and every third weekend (weeks including the weekend will be approximately 55 hours per week). Out of season - 40-50 hours per week.
Grass types: Greens - Champion Ultradwarf. Collars/Approaches - Latitude 36 bermudagrass. Fairways, tees, rough - Majority Tifway 419, with 7.5 acres of Zorro Zoysia grass.
Equipment: Primarily Toro equipment, with 4 John Deere ProGators
Irrigation system: Toro Lynx Control System with Network VP Satellites
Future events: Forsyth typically holds one Carolinas Golf Association event / Carolinas PGA event. In 2025, FCC will host the North Carolina Open for the Carolinas PGA.
INITIAL PRIORITIES OF POSITION:
Become familiar and comfortable with the management team and the GCM team members
Learn the property and the overall club structure before tournament golf season in March of 2025
Organize and manage daily operations as well as the golf course maintenance staff
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND APTITUDE:
Report directly and collaborate with the Director of Agronomy, Superintendent, and Assistant in scheduling and supervising all golf course maintenance practices
Assist in managing and motivating a diverse staff of 22-25 employees
Accurately calibrate and apply fertilizers and pesticides
Irrigation troubleshooting / repair
Record keeping
Maintain course and facilities to Club standards
Safely and effectively operate sprayers and mix chemicals across greens, tees, and fairways, following precise procedures.
Manage the irrigation system and its components with skill and care.
Demonstrate your ability to follow both oral and written directions in a timely fashion
QUALIFICATIONS:
3-5 years of experience in golf course maintenance, preferably in a leadership role.
Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred in Turf Management.
NC Pesticide Applicators License or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and be able to perform repetitive motions.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
$65,000 - $73,000, depending on experience

Since its inception, Forsyth Country Club has been distinguished as one of the premier clubs in the South. The Club is nestled on 172 acres of pristine rolling hills in Winston-Salem, NC.
