Summary
Directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf courses including tees, greens, fairways, bunkers, cart paths and the rough. Maintains playing conditions to the highest possible standards set forth by Ibis. Assumes responsibility in the absence of the Superintendent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Directly supervises the maintenance employees and disperses daily work assignments.
Assists Superintendent with budget tracking, scheduling, and administrative tasks.
Trains new employees and documents each training session.
Conducts safety meetings to ensure that safety standards are met.
Checks course setup and conditions daily, reports deficiencies such as disease and unhealthy turf to Superintendent.
Maintains clear communication throughout the day with Superintendent and Director of Golf Course Maintenance.
Oversees tasks to keep maintenance facility, equipment, and tools clean and organized.
Confirms maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment. Operates equipment when necessary, as directed.
Formulates and monitors chemical and fertilizer applications.
Assists with irrigation applications, scheduling, and repairs.

Directly supervises 15 employees within the golf course assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning,
and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Turf Management degree/or currently enrolled preferred. Previous golf course maintenance experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
