Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team at Crossroads or May River. Reporting directly to the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent will play a key role in maintaining the overall quality and playability of our courses. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a passion for golf course management.
Responsibilities:
Assist in managing daily operations of the golf course, including course set-up, maintenance, and scheduling.
Supervise and train maintenance staff in accordance with golf course standards and safety guidelines.
Monitor course conditions and implement maintenance programs to ensure optimal playing conditions.
Oversee irrigation systems and water management practices to maintain turf health and water efficiency.
Collaborate with the Golf Course Superintendent to develop and execute annual maintenance plans and budgets.
Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements related to golf course operations.
Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas to enhance course management and operations.
Encourage an open communication environment where team members are encouraged to share ideas and provide feedback on improving operational efficiency and course conditions.
Assist in the procurement and inventory management of equipment, supplies, and materials.
Participate in special projects and renovations as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent.

Golf Course Superintendent - Crossroads
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in golf course maintenance or related field.
Associate or bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related discipline preferred. Applicants with strong experience will also be considered.
Strong knowledge of golf course maintenance practices, turfgrass species, and irrigation systems.
Experience in supervising and training staff effectively.
Ability to operate and maintain golf course maintenance equipment and machinery.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Palmetto Bluff is an active and growing private community in the Lowcountry of Bluffton South Carolina. With 20,000 acres of land, there is something for everyone at Palmetto Bluff. With land sales and real estate continuing to grow, there has been other areas of the property expanding as well. Our agronomy department consists of the Jack Nicklaus designed May River course that opened in 2004, the King-Collins designed reversible 9-hole Crossroads course that opened January 2024, and a new Coore-Crenshaw designed course currently under construction. We are building new teams from scratch and developing current teams through the Agronomy leadership with over 75 years of combined experience.
