This is full-time, skilled work involving the care and maintenance of municipal golf course greens, tees, fairways, roughs, sand bunkers, water hazards and general grounds. Work involves the operation of gang mowers and other power mowers and equipment for maintaining greens, aprons, tees, trees, shrubs, and flower beds. Work also includes watering and applying chemicals to tees, greens, and fairways, laying sod, seeding, and maintenance of ball washers, sand traps, and water hazards. Work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed through inspection, conferences, and evaluation of results received.
Salary: $16.55 - $22.51 Hourly

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
Possess and continue to maintain a valid Driver License.
Have considerable experience in the maintenance of golf course greens, tees, and fairways.
Have knowledge of the operation and care of various types of mowing equipment.
Be able to read, write, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
Be able to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.
Be able to deal tactfully and courteously with golf course patrons.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
The successful candidate must be either a resident of the City of St. Petersburg as of his or her date of employment or establish primary residency within the city limits of St. Petersburg within six months of completing the probationary period. Furthermore, as long as the successful candidate is employed in this classification, he or she must reside within the city limits of St. Petersburg. This requirement is not applicable to current City employees who were hired before October 20, 1997.
