Through our education plan, our turf professionals are exposed to the business side of a large club operation all while working with some of the industry’s top business professionals. Primary Responsibilities: • Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in providing the membership with the best possible course and grounds conditions. • Lead and take part in managing all aspects of a large-scale ground’s operation • Involvement in daily operations and management meetings • Participate in Agronomy Departments Staff Development Program with exposure too: o Irrigation, Plant Health Applications, Cultural Equipment Setup, Equipment Maintenance, Project Management, Budget and Payroll Management, and Managerial/Club Operations • Attend Grounds Committee Meetings when Golf Calendar allows • Work with leadership team to maintain a culture that results in successful, career-oriented, professionals • Chemical and fertilizer programs, applications and record keeping • Course set up • Tournament preparation • Hand watering and turf grass stress management • Topdressing program and application • Tree maintenance • Hazard maintenance • Responsible for training new employees before the use of all machinery • Snow removal
Required Skills: • 2 or 4-year degree in Turf Grass Management or related field • Golf course maintenance experience is preferred • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn • Ability to make quick decisions
Specialized Knowledge/Licenses Preferred: • Golf Course Superintendent’s Association of America • New England Golf Course Superintendent’s Association of America • MA pesticides license and knowledge of the game of golf • Continuing education at local and national conferences
Physical Requirements: • Must be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours • Able to lift to 50 lbs. • Must be able to arrive at work at unusually early hours • Must be able to work outside for 10- 12 hour days
