Cottonwood Hills Golf Course is looking for an Assistant Superintendent. This position will be available March 1st, 2025. One of two public courses in the Gallatin Valley, CHGC is located 10 minutes west of Bozeman, MT. Bordering the Gallatin River and surrounded by working farmland, this 27-hole facility consists of an 18-hole championship course and a Par-3 Executive course. Built on historic farmland, the stunning views of the entire Gallatin valley are complemented by the two irrigation canals that wind through the property adding a unique challenge to golfers and creating a comfortable habitat for the local wildlife.
Job Description:
The Assistant Superintendent reports to and takes instruction from the Golf Course Superintendent on a daily basis. The selected individual will be responsible for relaying information from the Superintendent to the crew members at times and be able to help out with equipment and irrigation maintenance. We are a tight knit core workforce that enjoys an outstanding working relationship with the owner and Pro-shop staff. The Assistant Superintendent will be an integral part of daily and long-term planned operations.
Education/Certification Requirements:
Two- or Four-year degree in Turfgrass management or related field preferred but not required
Montana Pesticide Applicator Liscense/Ability to obtain within 6 months of hiring
Knowledge/Ability/Skills:
Possess good communication skills
Ability to relay detailed instructions to crew-members
Working knowledge of common industry equipment and tools
Experience with operating and repairing course irrigation systems
Knowledge of sound agronomic principles
Ability to lift 50lbs and work outdoors on a regular basis
Interact with the public in a polite and professional manner
Be punctual with deadlines and start times
Willing to work weekends/holidays on a rotation with the Superintendent and crew
Possess good notetaking and record keeping skills
Daily Tasks/Essential Duties:
Relay instructions from the Superintendent to the crew
Assist in preventative and reparative equipment maintenance
Assist in irrigation system operation and maintenance
Apply and maintain records of pesticide/fertilizer applications
Relay course condition information to the Superintendent
Working Hours:
Monday through Friday ~ 8 hours/day (Half days on Friday)
Weekend rotation with Superintendent and Crew
Year-round salaried position with minimal responsibilities Mid-November to Mid-February
