The student intern will be expected to be flexible with scheduling while working 50 – 60 hours per week with overtime paid after 40 hours. The club will provide furnished housing, lunch, and laundered uniforms at no charge. Golf privileges are included.

Spring Hill Golf Club is looking for two highly motivated individuals to work in coordination with the management staff to implement sound maintenance practices and achieve optimal turfgrass conditions. The internship will involve the student in the refinement of turfgrass quality and daily operation of a private golf club as well as tournament set up, project management, and irrigation programming and maintenance. Our Internship program is designed to prepare a student for the profession of Turfgrass Management by introducing them to all aspects of a golf course management, not just daily maintenance routines.
Summer and seasonal internships are available
Agronomic Programming- Be involved in planning and implementing the cultural maintenance plan for the season while learning different chemistries and uses of each. Learn the importance of proper calibration while making applications on a timely basis
Managerial- Spend time with the managerial staff on how to plan and manage daily staffing to meet maintenance requirements
Technical Education- Meet individually with industry representatives to learn company products and their place in golf course maintenance industry. Tour company facilities and see how industry specific products are made
Special Projects:
Irrigation- Learn to plan, purchase, and implement specific irrigation projects and be introduced to proper programming techniques.
Drainage- Learn to plan, establish quantities, order and project manage a specific drainage project during the golf season
Requirements
Candidate is expected to be enrolled in a Turfgrass Management program and have a basic knowledge of grounds maintenance equipment operations. Qualified candidates will be expected to acquire a Minnesota Pesticide Applicators License upon arrival. All cost will be covered by Spring Hill.
Spring Hill Golf Club is located fifteen miles west of Minneapolis, in the suburb of Wayzata, Minnesota. Spring Hill is a Tom Fazio designed, private golf club that opened for play in June 1999 and is currently ranked in the Top 100 golf courses by Golf Digest and Golf Magazine. Spring Hill Golf Club was designed to reflect the traditions of the game by establishing a professional caddy program which members are required to use daily. Annual rounds are 8,000 for the six months of club operation.
