Within the community, the West Bay Golf Club is anchored around its 18-hole championship golf course. Designed by esteemed golf course architects Pete and PB Dye, renovated by Fry-Straka, golf enthusiasts seek out West Bay to experience its unique and challenging design. The Golf Club is home to multiple dining venues that range from casual dining including the Niblick Grille and Signature Bar, to fine dining at the Golf House. The club offers a maximum of 300 golf memberships, 150 social memberships, and currently has a wait list. While the club remains open year-round, the peak of member activity is from November through April.
About The Position
West Bay Club is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Mechanic to join our Golf Course Maintenance team. This vital position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all equipment used in the care of our championship-level golf course. The Head Mechanic will play a crucial role in ensuring that the course is maintained to the highest standards by keeping all machinery, including mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, and other specialized equipment, in optimal working condition.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all equipment, purchases repair parts and replacement supplies.
Reviews expenses and purchases with department manager for approval. Places orders for parts/supplies as needed for equipment or service and tracks expenses and inventories for budget purposes.
Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in many types of golf course maintenance equipment.
Performs mower grinding/sharpening, performs general overhaul of motors, reels, install and adjusts braking systems.
Performs machining or welding work in making fittings used in repair of maintenance equipment.
Maintains records of preventative maintenance, repairs made, parts ordered.
Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus. Skilled in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools and in the making of various types of mechanical repairs.
Diagnoses mechanical troubles and schedules appropriate preventative maintenance work.
Helps to control costs and expenses in the maintenance of the equipment fleet relating to parts purchases, inventory levels, service work, fuel inventories and related items.
Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications for the Head Mechanic
Certificate from college or technical school.
Minimum of three (3) years head mechanic or assistant mechanic experience preferred.
Must have own set of tools.
Other Qualifications
Valid Driver’s License, Mechanics Certificate from Gas and Diesel Engine Training Seminar.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
