Oversees preventive maintenance program of all equipment - Includes the repair of broken or failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment and service. - The Equipment Manager inspects diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in diesel, electric and gasoline powered mechanical equipment used in the maintenance of the golf course. - Routinely sharpen mower blades via reel grinders and bench grinders.- General maintenance and repair of transmissions, differentials, carburetors, distributors, fuel pumps, steering systems, starters, generators, universal joints, hydraulic systems and high pressure pumps and valves; installs and adjusts brakes; installs batteries, tires, wiring and make weld joints. - Makes emergency repairs on the course and routinely makes spot checks of equipment for performance in the field. - Service checks the equipment prior to use and is responsible for shop area maintenance. Trains and assists staff in proper operation/maintenance of equipment. - Candidate must be able to maintain a safe and clean working environment - This position will be 40+ hours per week. Some flexibility may be required depending on certain situations.
Skill in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repair to old and new equipment. - Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work. - Work effectively without direct supervision
- Communicate effectively and keep detailed preventative maintenance records.
- Set reels on a daily basis.
- Work closely with Superintendent on recommended mowing heights and settings.
Prefer some type of completion of a creditable equipment program, but not necessary.
Knowledge preferred in small engine repair, diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and welding.
Knowledge in reel mowing, reel cut of height, and reel maintenance
