The Sanctuary Golf Club, a prestigious member-owned private golf club located on Sanibel Island, FL is hiring a full time, year-round golf course Equipment Manager.
Our Green and Grounds team is responsible for assisting in the appearance and safety of our world-renowned golf course, bordered by a wildlife refuge and surrounded by nature preserves, lakes and mangrove forests.
The Equipment Manager, under direct supervision of the Director of Green and Grounds/Golf Course Superintendent works independently in the repairing and preventative maintenance of all golf course equipment.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Equipment Manager who will help provide the highest level of service and golf course conditioning to our Membership!

Operational hours begin at 6:30 a.m. and include shortened, rotating weekend workdays.
Schedule expectations include working up to 50 hours per week, as necessary.
Requirements:
Services, repairs and adjusts golf course maintenance equipment, working closely with Assistant Mechanic as support.
Inspects equipment for operating deficiencies on a daily basis in facility and in the field.
Maintains equipment to manufacturer safety standards.
Maintains current and accurate repair records on all equipment available for review.
Performs general overhaul and other preventive maintenance on all equipment.
Performs emergency repair work in the field.
Performs body and fender work, fabrication, welding, troubleshooting and repairs to hydraulic and electrical systems.
Responsible for ordering repair parts and equipment and proper tools to maintain and repair golf course equipment.
Sets up and modifies new equipment as needed.
Spot checks equipment for performance on the course; frequently makes emergency repairs on course and services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to use.
Instructs and/or trains golf course maintenance staff on preventative maintenance and proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.
Regulates employees’ use of equipment in absence of the Director of Green and Grounds and Golf Course Superintendent.
Communicates and reports any needs or problems relating to course equipment to Director of Green and Grounds /Golf Course Superintendent.
Attends staff meetings and safety meetings/discussions, as requested by Equipment Manager and Golf Course Superintendent.
Attend professional association meetings, seminars, equipment schools or other ongoing training necessary to gain up to date working knowledge of current equipment and servicing needs.
Abides by all safety policies and procedures and maintains a clean and safe work area.
Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by management, including but not limited to duties involved in construction, maintenance and renovation of golf course and selected sites.
Education, Experience and Other Requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Graduate of a vocational technical school or post-secondary training in small engine repair or mechanics, preferred.
Minimum two years of experience as a golf course equipment mechanic is preferred.
Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds maintenance work is preferred.
Ability to operate golf course equipment such as hand mowers, triplex and light weight fairway mowing.
Ability to perform all tasks related to grounds keeping position, when directed and for training purposes.
Knowledge and/or ability to play the game of golf; understand how job performance affects playing conditions of golf course.
Demonstrate positivity, helpfulness and friendliness while working with teammates and when interacting with members; represent The Sanctuary Golf Club in a professional manner at all times.
Ability to stay organized, prioritize tasks, problem solve and meet deadlines.
Work well with others to accomplish tasks and work independently, following directions and job task protocols.
Valid Drivers License, reliable transportation and dependability a must.
Ability to meet business demands which at times make it necessary to change accustomed work shift; number of scheduled hours may fluctuate based on business needs; flexibility to work extra hours when necessary.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Physical stamina sufficient to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
Complete manual labor for long periods of time while walking (including moving on uneven surfaces), bending, crouching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing, stooping, twisting, turning and/or reaching overhead.
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
Work in and around potentially hazardous substances, including chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, motor fuel, fumes, airborne particles.
Required to work outside for extended periods of time: exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; exposure to dust, pollen, grass and other allergens, high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Required use of personal protective equipment, such as a respirator, gloves, earplugs, eye guards/visors, boots and hat.
