The Assistant Equipment Manager will assist in managing, maintaining and repairing the club’s turf equipment, including mechanical and electrical preventative maintenance and repairs to golf course machinery and equipment according to equipment specifications and requirements. The Assistant Equipment Manager will be an integral part of the shop and overall agronomy team in producing exceptional golf course conditions for the Club.
Essential Job Functions:
Assist in onboarding, training, and overseeing the Asst. equipment Technician within the equipment management sector of the Agronomy Department.
Maintain a clean and organized shop, parts room, gas storage area, office, and equipment storage areas.
Understand all safe and proper mixing, loading, disposal, and application procedures with all chemicals, ensuring all local, state, OSHA, and EPA regulations are followed.
Assist in monitoring all Agronomy structures and property conditions and report concerns to the Equipment Manager.
Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair all equipment assets.
Repair engines and adjust cutting units on various heavy and light maintenance equipment.
You may be required to leave the Club to purchase needed materials.
Inspect equipment and report abnormal/excessive damage done to the Equipment Manager.
Aid in cleaning equipment and maintaining the wash pad.
Assist in training all grounds staff on proper equipment operation and cleaning.
Oversee the daily performance of equipment in the field. This includes checking all mowers daily for proper cuts and making repairs in the field.
Propose and make improvements to Shop.
Expand knowledge by being active in seminars, workshops, and reading materials.
Weld as needed in equipment repair and project fabrication.
Represent Old Memorial Golf Club in a position and professional image in the field and the industry while always working independently or efficiently as part of a team.
Required Experience, Skills, Abilities, Knowledge, and Education:
Knowledge and experience in turf and landscape equipment.
Understand hydraulics, electrical, drivetrains, combustion engines, and diagnostics.
Experience in reel maintenance and cutting precision.
Ability to read and follow manuals, understand preventive maintenance requirements and schedules, and repair equipment.
Know and can utilize various trade tools and their safety guidelines.
Understand the game of golf and how turf equipment affects turf conditions.
Knowledgeable of computer software systems such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and preventive maintenance systems.
Have a valid driver’s license and complete the Club’s internal motor vehicle training program.
Trade school or formal education or certifications in mechanical, electrical, related programs or equivalent experience.
