The golf course superintendent will report to the general manager and the Elite Golf executive team. We would prefer that the golf course superintendent is an active member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association with a Class A classification. The golf course superintendent should have all necessary licenses and permits to perform their job such as a state pesticide applicator license.
General responsibilities
Promote the game of golf, the facility, and the Elite Golf philosophy.
Conduct self in a friendly, courteous and hospitable manner with all members/guests/staff members.
Manage and oversee the golf course maintenance department.
Oversee the hiring, training and replacement of staff members.
Maintain a close relationship with other department heads.
Oversee and enforce facility policies and procedures.
Manage and participate in all day to day operations and procedures of the department.
Keep a well maintained course, facility and maintenance yard.
Train and further the education of upcoming superintendents and staff members looking to better their careers.
Any other duties as may be assigned by executive management.
Job specific responsibilities
Planning, Finance, Regulations
Develops / coordinates the development of long range and annual business plans with regards to the golf course.
Coordinates the development of operating and capital budgets for the golf course.
Analyzes and monitors financial statements, and reviews income and expenses relative to plans, implements corrective measures as needed and reports status on a monthly basis.
Makes recommendations for capital improvements, supplies and equipment.
Assures operational compliance with local, state and federal laws.
Maintains knowledge and compliance with all lease terms and contractual obligations.
Administration
Develops and maintains a sound organizational structure.
Oversees the development of operating procedures and training manuals.
Develops emergency and safety procedures.
Oversees scheduling and work of the maintenance department.
Conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings with the maintenance crew.
Attends managers meetings.
Communicates to the general manager and Elite Golf on a structured and timely basis.
Operations
Implements and adheres to the Elite Golf maintenance standards.
Oversees the care and maintenance of the turf and landscaping at the facility.
Monitors utility programs to control water and electricity costs while providing specific reports to track water usage.
Implements, oversees and records the facility fertility and pesticide programs in compliance with all city, state and federal laws.
Implements and oversees daily, weekly, monthly and yearly maintenance programs such as verticutting, aerifications, and other routine maintenance.
Ensures accurate recording of hourly labor and timely, accurate payroll processing.
Oversees the care and maintenance of all physical assets in the department.
Establishes and monitors compliance with all purchasing policies and procedures.
Provide resolution of escalated customer service issues.
Knowledge, Skills and Traits
Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, and golf course maintenance programs.
Knowledge of the use of fertilizers and pesticides.
Fundamental supervisory practices and principles.

Minimum Qualifications for the Golf Course Superintendent:
Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Degree preference in agronomy/ horticulture/ plant/soil science).
