The Forest Country Club is seeking a Director of Golf Course Maintenance (DGCM). The chosen candidate will play an essential role in maintaining and driving the pursuit of excellence on the Club’s two 18-hole golf courses, including the complete renovation of the Bear Golf Course in 2025. The successful candidate will have experience and in-depth knowledge of Southwest Florida agronomic practices and be an outgoing, detail-oriented leader ready to be immediately impactful.
THE ROLE
The DGCM reports directly to the Club’s General Manager/Chief Operating Officer and works closely with Members of the Senior Leadership Team and Green Committee. He/she is expected to be highly engaged and visible among members, staff, and other key stakeholders. He/she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Club’s 36 holes of golf, practice facilities, turf management equipment/facilities, and the Club-owned grounds in the gated community. As the leader of all things agronomic, the DGCM will possess an exceptionally strong focus on upholding and implementing industry best practices, standard operating procedures, and technology enhancements where suitable.
The DGCM is expected to be the epitome of a detail-oriented and energetic professional representing himself/herself in a polished manner with each constituency of Club involvement---staff, members, guests, vendors, and the greater Southwest Florida community at large; at all times. He/she must be comfortable leading teams, enforcing accountability, and communicating appropriately and transparently. The DCGM will be responsible for driving and developing the strategy for ongoing optimized golf course conditions and the premier member experience.
Member and staff satisfaction, financial performance, and the overall ability to deliver premier turf conditions are essential to the success of this position. The DGCM must be a self-starter intensely focused on details, improvement, and individual and team growth and possess the drive to join the shift from good to great.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will have over five years in the top agronomy role at an 18-hole facility. Experience at a multi-course facility is desirable. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have:
A degree in turf management or a related field of study,
A history of active Golf Course Superintendents Association of America membership. The GCSAA Certification or active pursuit of GCSAA is highly preferred,
Verifiable experience leading agronomic operations at high-end establishments with high but fair expectations of performance and product,
A workable understanding of managing significant and complex capital improvement projects. Candidates with golf course renovation (tee to green) experience are preferred.
