Wallingford Country Club is seeking a Golf Course Superintendent with exceptional agronomic skills and outstanding leadership abilities that will take WCC to the next level. Long known for great course conditions, the Club is looking to utilize their solid infrastructure to build upon and develop WCC to be one of the best conditioned courses in the region. Enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and a sincere commitment to making the course known as a premier club are key components to the position.
The ideal candidate will either be a seasoned professional or an enthusiastic assistant at a topnotch club that is ready to accept the challenges of this position. Preference will be given to regional candidates with experience working with cool season grasses.
This is the first time this position has been open in over twenty years. The position is available immediately.

Candidate Qualifications:
- Possess exceptional agronomic and turfgrass management skills
- Experience managing cool season grasses
- Ability to work collaboratively with outside vendors and subcontractors
- Detail oriented, proactive approach to daily tasks
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage diverse maintenance staff
- Possess an open mind to new ideas and concepts
- Solid irrigation management philosophy & practices
- Strong knowledge of golf course maintenance equipment and repair
- Experience with tree management
- Golfer that is knowledgeable about playing conditions, tournaments, and golf course architecture.
- Strong communication skills; ability to build positive relationships Green Chairman, Board Members and other key management staff
- Personable with ability to build member rapport
- Impeccable character
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong zero-based budget management skills
- Strong work ethic
- Ensures that chemicals, petroleum, and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Maintains required records and strives to minimize the use of chemicals and petroleum products
- Establishes short- and long-range plans for the golf course in conjunction with the Board of Governors
- Consistently treats all members, guests, staff, and vendors with dignity and respect
