Golf Course Superintendent Job Summary
The Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our golf course and ensuring the integrity of its grounds. The successful candidate will develop and maintain a safe and high-quality environment for golfers, set and manage a budget, provide guidance and direction to staff, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
About Quincy Country Club
Historic club founded in 1898 that is truly a gem of the Midwest. The 18-hole course contains bentgrass fairways/greens with bluegrass rough. A new state of the art irrigation system was installed in 2019. New Better Billy Bunker System with Pro/Angle sand to be installed in fall of 2024. Upcoming fairway reseed in 2025.
Golf Course Superintendent Duties and Responsibilities
Direct and manage operations, including maintenance and repair of greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and other elements of the course
Direct and maintain all landscape areas throughout the course and around clubhouse
Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive maintenance and improvement plan for the golf course and its grounds
Monitor and evaluate the condition of the course and identify areas of improvement
Ensure compliance with safety standards and local, state, and federal laws and regulations
Develop and manage a budget to ensure the efficient operation of the golf course
Train and manage staff
Evaluate and implement new technologies and techniques to improve the golf course and its operations
Golf Course Superintendent Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in turf management, agronomy, or a related field
Three to five years of experience in golf course management
Knowledge of golf course maintenance, turf management, irrigation systems, and related regulations
Past experience in fairway reseeding is a plus
Able to manage a budget and staff
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Able to work both independently and as part of a team
