Internship Colonial Country Club
Colonial Country Club is an 18-hole facility located in the heart of Fort Worth, Texas. Founded by Mr. Marvin Leonard in 1936, to bring bentgrass greens to the South, and designed by John Bredemus and Perry Maxwell. Colonial Country Club hosted the 1941 US Open and is host to the longest running annual PGA Tour event at a single site, currently known as the Charles Schwab Challenge. Colonial Country Club is a Platinum Club of America as well as a Distinguished Club with Iconic Status.
Colonial Country Club is currently looking to fill internship positions for 2023. We are seeking individuals with a strong work ethic, a “team first” mentality, and desire to advance their careers in the industry. Individuals will interact with the Director of Agronomy, Assistant Superintendents and staff to develop knowledge and skills necessary to lead a team and produce championship conditions in the south. Individuals will have the opportunity to experience the processes and execution of a major renovation. Individuals will also gain experience in:
Calibration of liquid and granular applications (spray hawking, boom spraying)
Learn and assist in applications with GPS sprayers
Exposure to well-known industry network for continued growth and opportunities to reach career goals
PGA Tour tournament
Tournament volunteer opportunities
RainBird 2-wire, HDPE irrigation system
Bermudagrass and bentgrass agronomic and cultural practices
Water management
Data Collection
Maintaining bentgrass greens in Texas
Operation of hydronics system for Greens (cooling and heating)
Internships have a chance to lead to full time positions.
Educational Requirements-Currently enrolled in a 2 to 4- year degree, or certificate program in turf management, or related field.
Experience Requirements- Prefer at least 1 year of golf course maintenance experience, however not necessary.
Special Requirements -Individual who possesses a positive attitude, passion for the turf industry, a strong desire to learn and a desire to be a team player within the staff.
