Assistant Superintendent
The Legends Country Club is seeking an enthusiastic, and qualified individual to help lead our Maintenance Team. The Legends Country Club is a Private 27-hole property in Eureka Missouri. The original Robert Trent Jones Sr 18-hole course opened in 1989. An additional 9-hole Gary Kern design opened in 1994. In 2021 the RTJ course underwent a 1.2 million dollar renovation. The renovation included Better Billy Bunkers with white sand and newly seeded greens. In 2024 the Ridge 9-hole course completed a Better Billy Bunker and Driving Range renovation. The long-term objective is to continue to provide excellent service and course conditions to our Members and Guests.
Education or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Horticulture or Plant Science (preferred)
Associate’s degree from an intensive two-year turf grass management program
Previous work as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent (3 or more years)
Previous supervisory experience in a club or golf course setting
Job Knowledge and Expectations
Have a basic understanding of the rules of golf
Be up to date on federal, state and local laws in golf course operations
Some administrative and executive ability, especially critical in problem-solving and decision-making. Need to work in “team” atmosphere while executing the vision of the club
Ability to perform required role in emergency situations
An interest in the game of golf is preferred
Positive attitude, Good oral and written communication skills, Strong attention to detail
Lead the department in Superintendents absence
Job Tasks/Duties
Maintains all grounds/course and equipment according to club standards
Schedules, trains, supervises and evaluates all personnel assigned to the department
Maintains accurate pesticide records
Supervises and/or executes fertilizer, chemical applications
Maintains course in proper playing conditions
Inspects course regularly to evaluate and recommend improvements
Communicates with the golf shop relating to on-course activities and conditions
Assign daily tasks to 8-16 department employees
Basic mechanical work
Irrigation troubleshooting
Licenses and Special Requirements
Must be able to obtain a Missouri Pesticide Applicators License within the first 120 days of employment
Valid driver’s license
GCSAA member preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions
Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position

Compensation
$65,000 - $70,000 salary D.O.E
