Equipment Manager (Exempt)
Flagstaff Ranch Golf Club is currently searching for a talented Equipment Manager. We are a high-end, private 18 hole facility in Northern Arizona. We are a seasonal Golf Club with a set 6 month season. The position is required to work 40 hours per week with some overtime to be expected during our golfing season.
The majority of our equipment consists of John Deere. The Equipment Manager will be responsible for maintaining all of the clubs equipment; which includes, mowers, Top dressers, aerifiers, tractors, skid steer, cart fleets, work trucks, and many small engine items as well.
This position is also considered the shop manager. We are seeking a team player that is positive and encouraging. The individual selected should be able to train employees in the proper operation of all equipment and procedures. Maintaining a clean, neat, and organized shop is a requirement of this position.
Reports to: Golf Course Superintendent, Works closely with the Assistant Superintendents
General Purpose: Maintains the equipment, aids in agronomy staff management, operator/safety training, and ensures that the equipment is maintained to established standards.
Essential Duties:
Safely operates the use of dump trucks, snow removal equipment during winter months.
Maintains a working knowledge of agronomy programs and schedule of events.
Helps troubleshoot components such as pressure relief valves, pumps, pump motors/drives, and communication systems associated with the water delivery for the property.
Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all equipment, purchases repair parts and replacement supplies. Places orders for parts/supplies as needed for equipment or service and tracks expenses and inventories for budget purposes.
Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in many types of golf course maintenance equipment.
Performs grinding/sharpening of reels, bedknives, and rotary blades to ensure a high quality of cut and makes adjustments to cutting units as needed.
Performs machining or welding work in making fittings used in repair of maintenance equipment.
Maintains records of preventative maintenance, repairs made, parts ordered.
Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus.
Knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems and mowing equipment maintenance such as grinding, sharpening and adjustment.
Diagnoses mechanical troubles and schedules appropriate preventative maintenance work.
Follows sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible.
Helps to control costs and expenses in the maintenance of the equipment fleet relating to parts purchases, inventory levels, service work, fuel inventories and related items.
Aids the ongoing hiring, training, and coaching of staff.
Manages the seasonal staff during the absence of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents.
Direct Supervisor of the Assistant Mechanic.
Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
Performs other duties as required.
Responsible for daily/preventative maintenance on all mowers, maintenance carts, tractors, specialty equipment, and small engine equipment. Ability to learn how to grind reels and bedknives and make adjustments to mower set up to maintain quality cut and after cut appearance.
