About The Club:
The Landings Golf and Country Club is located 20 minutes from Savannah, Georgia on Skidaway Island and along with a community of over 8,000 residences encompasses the entire island. In 1974 the Club welcomed its first member and now with a thriving membership, offers many sporting and dining amenities including the choice of playing on any one of its six 18-hole championship golf course.
About the Golf Courses:
The six 18-hole golf courses, all with different designs, offered challenges for the novice to the accomplished golfer and were designed by Arnold Palmer, Tom Fazio, Arthur Hills, and Willard C. Byrd. Over the six courses, there is an array of warm-season grasses, including TifEagle, TifGrand, Celebration, 419, Zorro, Zeon, Empire, El Toro, and Platinum, and cool-season Perennial Ryegrass. There are four independent maintenance facilities located on the property, and the Club has recently partnered with John Deere on a 4-year lease agreement.
The Club prides itself on continuous improvement and has a long-term capital plan that consists of all future golf course renovations. Some of the projects include:
This year, work on the Marshwood course will include addressing some green contamination, adding 1-2” bunker sand, replacing the collar, and installing new pumps and a pump house.
In 2025, work on the Oakridge course will include new greens and bunkers, tee expansion, and fairway frazing/re-grassing.
In 2026, work on the Deer Creek course will include strip/flip of greens, collar replacement, and re-grassing of fairways and tees.
In 2027 or 2028, the Terrapin Point course will be fully renovated.
In 2030 and beyond, work will begin on phase II of the master plan, which includes irrigation, cart path replacement, and tee work.

Position Summary:
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for a diverse range of activities involved in golf course maintenance and construction. Activities would include assisting in the budgeting, developing agronomical plans, scheduling, and then implementing the daily activities such as course setup, daily maintenance, cultural practices, chemical application and calibration, irrigation problem solving and repair, and leading projects in construction, renovations, and enhancements. This is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility for leading, directing, overseeing, assisting, training, and coaching staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in overseeing the repairs and maintenance of all mechanic and motorized equipment.
Assist in overseeing the maintenance and repair of pumps, irrigation, and drainage systems and assist in performing preventive maintenance as appropriate.
Supervise the daily preparation of the golf course, including mowing, course set up, tee marker and rake placement, hazard stakes, and out of bounds markers.
Perform sprayer and fertilizer spreader calibration and assist in chemical/fertilizer applications.
Inspect turf, shrubs, and other outdoor Club areas to assess pesticide/fertilizer needs and applies as needed to maintain excellent condition of grounds and golf course.
Favorably meet and greet members and guests, assist and respond proactively to any of their needs.
Check inventories and ensure inventory levels of products are maintained and chemical storage areas and mixing area is in compliance with state regulations.
Maintained accurate records of all equipment and chemical/fertilizer inventories and applications.
Train staff and ensures all safety policies and procedures are practiced and in the safe and efficient operations and care of turf equipment and Club.
Follows safety guidelines described in the operating procedures and generally practices behavior that ensures the safety of staff, members, and guests.
Complies with departmental and Club policies and procedures.
Qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities):
Experience and knowledge in golf course maintenance.
Experience in leading golf course maintenance teams and projects.
Familiarity with golf course budgets and managing to budget.
Knowledge of pest control products and their applications.
Knowledge of turf chemical and fertilizer products and their applications.
Knowledge of irrigation utilization, drainage installation, repair, and maintenance.
Experience with construction and renovation projects.
Have a current Georgia pesticide license or the ability to acquire one.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
Have a BS or associate degree in turf grass management or related certificate and experience.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
