Grand Pines is the premier course of the Bentwater Yacht and Country Club property. Opened in 2005, Grand Pines offers members a golfing experience in the tradition of some of America’s classic courses, such as Pinehurst and Pine Valley, with the backdrop of Lake Conroe and a 160,000-acre national forest. Designed by Jeffrey Blume, Grand Pines features MiniVerde greens, Zeon zoysia tee boxes, & 419-bermuda fairways and rough. This property consistently ranks in the Top-50 courses in the state of Texas, and we are looking for someone to join the team that can help us take this course to the next level.
Under the direct supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent is responsible for directing and participating in the maintenance of the golf course. The Assistant Superintendent is directly responsible for all pesticide applications to the golf course and clubhouse grounds. They are also responsible for assisting with record keeping for payroll, personnel, operations, equipment, chemicals, weather, and safety, as well as maintaining effective employee and public relations. The individual must be able to plug themselves into the daily operation and work with all employees. The Assistant Superintendent must be engaged with the operation and a self-motivating individual. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Devise and assign daily job assignments for the golf course crew. Job assignments must be delivered in a clear and concise manner.
Properly train new employees or employees performing new job assignments to the standard of Grand Pines.
Coordinate with the GC Superintendent for all drainage, irrigation, and landscaping projects; serves as the project manager for in-house projects.
Coordinates with Head Equipment Manager/Grand Pines mechanic for daily equipment needs.
Instruct equipment operators in the safe, efficient operation and care of mowing and other equipment.
Ensure that daily operation is being managed with efficiency and provides the highest quality playing surfaces possible
Supervise and participate in all chemical applications made to the golf course
Must be able to identify weed and disease issues
Collect soil, water, and tissue samples
Monitor greens moisture as assigned
In the absence of the GC Superintendent, the Assistant must be able to operate and conduct maintenance of irrigation system, pumps, and drainage systems, as well as make daily adjustments and set night time irrigation programs
Must have the ability to calculate and calibrate chemical sprayers and spreaders
Observe the golf course for any problems and advise the GC Superintendent regarding any issues
Monitor and participate with the daily set-up of the golf course
Promptly complete and submit accident reports to HR
Assist in the safety training of employees
Must have a TX pesticide applicator license, or able to get one within 90 days
