The Club at Cordillera is pleased to announce an opening for Equipment Mechanic! We are a high-end, 54-hole facility in Edwards, Colorado with each course having its own shop, Equipment Manager, and fleet of equipment. Current mechanic is moving on after 6 successful years with the club in order to be closer to family.
Tractors, aerification equipment, and topdressors are really the only shared pieces of equipment. The facility is predominantly Toro equipment with 2500 hours or less.
This position oversees maintenance at one of the three 18-hole courses and aids in the care of the short course equipment. We are seeking a team player that is positive and encouraging. The individual selected should be able to and want to train employees in proper operation of all equipment and procedures. Maintaining a clean, neat, and organized shop is a must for the person in this capacity.
Reports to: Director of Agronomy, Superintendent, or Lead Assistant Superintendent.
General Purpose: Maintains the equipment and aids in agronomy staff management at one or more of the courses at the Club at Cordillera and ensures that the equipment is maintained to established standards.
Essential Duties:
Safely operates the use of dump trucks, snow removal equipment, snowcat, and snowmobiles to remove, monitor, maintain, groom, and pack the facility during winter operations.
Aids the course lead in the proper winterization of the golf course.
Maintains a working knowledge of agronomy programs and schedule of events.
Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots components such as pressure relief and reduction valves, pumps, filtration equipment, pump motors/drives, and communication systems associated with the water delivery for the property.
Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all equipment, purchases repair parts and replacement supplies. Places orders for parts/supplies as needed for equipment or service and tracks expenses and inventories for budget purposes.
Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in many types of golf course maintenance equipment.
Performs mower grinding/sharpening, performs general overhaul of motors, reels, installs and adjusts braking systems.
Performs machining or welding work in making fittings used in repair of maintenance equipment.
Maintains records of preventative maintenance, repairs made, parts ordered.
Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus.
Knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems and mowing equipment maintenance such as grinding, sharpening and adjustment.
Diagnoses mechanical troubles and schedules appropriate preventative maintenance work.
Follows sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible.
Helps to control costs and expenses in the maintenance of the equipment fleet relating to parts purchases, inventory levels, service work, fuel inventories and related items.
Aids the ongoing hiring, training, and coaching of staff.
Manages the seasonal staff during the absence of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.
Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Assistant Mechanic(s), greenskeepers, and equipment operators.
Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
Performs other duties as required.
Education/Experience: Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Degree preference in diesel mechanics, auto mechanics, or small engines,).
Physical Demands: Regularly stands, walks and sits. Regularly uses hands, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears. Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, tastes or smells. Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.
Environment/Noise: Normally works near moving mechanical parts, sharp objects, fumes and/or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.
Certificates/Licenses: Valid Driver’s License
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences: Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates are required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English). Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
