Willow Brook Country Club is home to a beautiful, private, and member-owned 18-hole course in East Texas. Recently redesigned by Golf Architect, Tripp Davis, the course includes zoysia framed bunkers, Tiff Eagle greens, and latitude 36 Bermuda grass covering our fairways. The golf facilities offer a variety of practice areas including two putting greens, a practice hole located adjacent to hole #16, a four-hole short course, and two driving range tees located on the North and South ends.
The Superintendent is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the golf course. These responsibilities include:
Turfgrass/plant material maintenance programs and maintenance/repair of golf grounds
Scheduling/maintenance of irrigation systems
Pesticide applications or oversight of this outsourced function
Supervising the operation, maintenance and repair of all equipment assigned to the course
Prepare and follow an agronomic plan that operates within the weekly, monthly, and annual plan and in line with the annual budget.
Procuring and managing supplies and materials to support maintenance activities
Works closely with the Director of Golf and General Manager to operate the Golf Course in a fiscally responsible and professional manner.
Must be able to work independently and be a self-starting problem solver
Train and Implement Procedures for Golf Course Maintenance Staff
Perform Chemical and Fertilizer applications
Conduct performance evaluations of Golf Course Maintenance staff and crew as directed on a timely basis
Assign and develop work-efficient schedules to meet the staffing needs of Golf Course Operations and, as warranted, recruit and hire staff to provide a superior level of Member Services.
Develop relationships with members to promote golf activities
Effective communication with staff, members, and Senior Management
Oversees the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees, on the facility grounds
Directs and assists the staff on the planting of new vegetation; the replacement, spraying, pruning, and trimming of trees and shrubs; the preparation of soil plant beds for aesthetically pleasing arrangements; and tending to high stress areas
Oversees subordinates in proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment
Plans and budgets for additional or replacement capital equipment
Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides)
Supervises and controls all maintenance expenses associated with Golf Course Operations, including payroll, supplies, chemicals, and fertilizers.
Develops annual operating budget and plans for maintenance or capital improvement projects
Maintains records and completes required reporting
Orders parts, supplies, and equipment as needed
Schedules maintenance practices around member play and outings to maximize efficiency
Knowledge of management and maintenance of greens, fairways, and roughs
Knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf course construction and maintenance work
Skill in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating, and motivating personnel
Interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts and work with supervisors, staff, and course players
Knowledge of safe use, mixing, and application of chemicals and commercial products
Knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules, and methods of play
Ability to anticipate personnel, equipment, and material requirements related to golf course maintenance and repair assignments
Minimum of 3-5 years as a Golf Course Superintendent
