Walnut Creek C.C. is a 27 hole private club with brand new Rainbird IC irrigation installed between 2021-2023 & brand new pump house with a Watertronics controller installed in 2023. In addition to the brand new irrigation across all 27 holes, 18 of the holes have been renovated in the last three years by Frontier Golf using Golf Course Architect, Brian Huntley. Some of the renovation highlights include bunkers being lined with Capillary Concrete, fairways being regrassed to bentgrass, rough regrassed to 90-10 mix TTTF/KBG, and extensive drainage work.
The Assistant Superintendent will directly hire, schedule, manage, and motivate seasonal staff. Responsibilities will also include daily scheduling of tasks, applications of fertilizers and pesticides, irrigation programming and repair, moisture management, and record keeping. Opportunities for project management will also be given.
Walnut Creek Country Club offers a great experience including management of both annual bluegrass and bentgrass greens, tees, and fairways. In addition, there are three different methods of greens construction represented including soil push up, modified California, and sand based. Candidates for this position will be exposed to all activities in the organization. Ideal candidates will be self motivated, honest, trustworthy, and have a positive attitude. Assistant Superintendents will attend Greens Committee meetings for experience with member relations and club politics.

Assistant Superintendents will get the chance each season for a paid week to volunteer on the grounds crew at a professional golf tournament for an entire week.
Two or four year degree in golf/sports turf management or similar field.
