The City of Commerce City is seeking a skilled Golf Maintenance Technician to join our team. As the Golf Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for mixing and applying various chemicals/pesticides including herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides through sprays, dusts, vapors, soil incorporation, or chemical application on all areas of the golf course. Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Mix and apply pesticides and fertilizers for application on all areas of the golf course and surrounding area.
- Prepares work area prior to beginning job and cleans area after completion of job. Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
- Applies pesticides in accordance with prescribed use and in accordance with accepted industry practices and rules and requirements of regulatory agencies such as Environmental Protection, Department of Environmental Regulation, Department of Agriculture.
- Helps identify turf diseases to determine the appropriate course of treatment.
- Schedules and performs weed control and elimination procedures; organizes and prioritizes weed control inspections, maintenance and responses.
- Operates lawn maintenance equipment in fertilizing, mowing, edging, and weeding golf course.
- Operates light to heavy vehicles, tools and equipment in the application of various pesticides and lawn care functions, e.g., truck, sprayers, tractors, loader, backhoe, etc.
- Ensures the safe and appropriate use of various chemicals agents and substances, mixing such per label instructions and product specifications, and using in accordance with prescribed safety precautions and directions.
- Maintains accurate records of chemical and biological agents used, e.g., records work order logs, maintains inventory of materials, evaluates and helps prepare cost estimates for various projects.
- Completes all required paperwork to include work orders and monthly reports, including SDS safety sheets.
