Long Cove Club Summer Internship 2024

Founded in 1981, Long Cove Club is a fully private, gated community located in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Long Cove features a championship golf course designed by Pete Dye, which is widely recognized as one of his finest. The golf course recently just underwent a major restoration project which included regrassing the fairways with Celebration bermudagrass, regrassing the greens with Tifeagle bermudagrass, restoring bunkers to their original design, upgrading drainage systems, and replacing multiple bulkheads and all cartpaths. Long Cove is currently ranked #6 in the state of South Carolina by Golf Digest and #148 in Golf Digests “The Second 100 Greatest” top 100 Greatest Golf Courses in the U.S.

The interns will work closely with the superintendent and assistants on a daily basis in all facets of golf course maintenance. Daily tasks will include, but not limited to: course set-up, hand watering, mowing, fertilizer/pesticide applications and calibrations, irrigation maintenance and repair, weed and disease identification and management, and insect monitoring and management. Starting in May of 2024, Long Cove will be installing a new two wire Rainbird irrigation system. Interns will be able to take part in all aspects of the irrigation renovation, including pump house renovation, installation of HDPE pipe throughout the course, guidance of all new cirrus pro software, and GPS mapping of new system.
