Turfgrass Seasonal Internship 2024

The Vaquero Club, located in Westlake, Texas, is actively seeking seasonal interns for the 2024 golf season.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working on a newly redesigned golf course with an experienced and well-versed team.

Vaquero is a private equity club located on former rolling ranch land west of DFW airport.  Beginning in November of 2022, the golf course closed for one year to undergo a full reconstruction and design of the golf course.  The project was masterfully led by architect Andrew Green, and recently reopened to membership in October.  The golf course is highlighted with amazing Pure Distinction Bentgrass putting greens that are equipped with a state-of-the-art hydronics cooling system for the hot Texas summers. Tees, fairways, and approaches are all Zoysia framed by coastal Bermuda native areas giving the ultimate desired feel of a golf course carved into a ranch. In addition to the design and turf improvements, a new Toro irrigation system, new bunkers complete with capillary concrete liners, and subsurface suction units for the greens were also installed.  Working with both cool and warm season turf, combined with industry leading technology, makes this a unique opportunity for an aspiring golf course superintendent.

At Vaquero, we are very fortunate to have a club that embraces interns while developing individuals who are looking to make this a career.  We have an amazing team with a rich history of former interns who have become Assistants and Assistants who have become Golf Course Superintendents.  Interns will be trained in all aspects of our daily golf course preparation.  In addition, each will spend time working with our experts in all areas of the Agronomy operation to gain a base understanding of the working parts that make Vaquero special.
