Under the Director of Golf Course Maintenance supervision, the assistant superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways and cart paths; supervises the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment; serve in the superintendent’s capacity during his/her absence.

  • Supervising the maintenance operations of greens, tees and fairways.
  • Assist in the planning and scheduling of the department’s work. Ensure that all equipment is in good working order.
  • Supervises the employees to ensure proper usage of all golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Supervises pesticide applications and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment.
  • Supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, irrigation and drainage systems.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Teach, train and explain to staff the correct methods for jobs being performed.
  • Assign work in accordance to the abilities of the employees or recommend to the Director work to be performed by outside vendors.
  • Communicate with the department Director and keep the Director apprised of all present or potential problems and issues.
  • Ensures the quality of work performed by staff and vendors is in accordance with Addison Reserve quality standard.
  • Assist Director with employee evaluations and corrective discipline.
  • Ensure that employees are using all appropriate safety measures and equipment.
  • Assist in the planning and scheduling of the department’s work.
  • Perform maintenance work as required.
