1st Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

The Quechee Club is a private 36 hole championship golf and four season recreational community located in beautiful south central Vermont.  The club is situated on 5,000 Acres and in addition to golf, offers a downhill ski area, cross country skiing, hiking/biking, 50 acre recreational lake, indoor/outdoor pools, 8 Har Tru & 2 All weather tennis courts, 4 pickleball & 2 platform courts, a fitness center, athletic fields etc...  The local area is also rich in outdoor recreational activities.

We are looking for a current turfgrass professional with previous golf course maintenance management experience, who is career motivated with the goal of advancing to become a golf course superintendent.  This is a working leadership position that requires good personnel management experience, a well-rounded turfgrass knowledge base, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, eagerness to learn & advance in the profession, and willing to do whatever it takes to provide our membership with an outstanding golf experience.

The 1st Assistants work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and 2nd Assistants to schedule all maintenance work, providing leadership and supervision for a 50+/- person maintenance crew while performing key tasks such as;  course set-up and scouting, plant protectant & fertility applications, training, leading crew in project work, along with crew scheduling & program planning. 1st Assistants will be required to obtain a Vermont state pesticide applicators license and will become an integral part of our plant protectant application program.  Personnel supervision & management will be a key component of a successful applicant.  The club just completed the replacement of the entire irrigation system during the summer of 2022 with a Rainbird I/C HDPE system, along with embarking on a Campus Master Plan to renovate aging infrastructure.  

Winter responsibilities include operation of a small family downhill ski area along with X/C skiing and snow plowing managing the 25+ year-round staff members.
