Jupiter Island Club is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to help direct and participate in the maintenance of the golf course. The Club has a consistent record of promoting and elevating assistant managers. The position is designed to help supervise staff in the department and make corrections as needed to ensure that the maintenance standards are being met. ABOUT THE CLUB: Established in 1933 when its founders purchased what was then the Olympia Beach Hotel, the Jupiter Island Club is a private, primarily seasonal club for the social and recreational benefit of its Members, their families, and guests. Over the years, it has evolved into one of the finest private residential retreats in America. One thing that makes Jupiter Island Club different from the rest of Florida is its layout. Jupiter offers hilly terrain that adds some challenge to golfers trying to compete with the best golfers from around the globe. The Club has also secured Andrew Green, the Golf Course Architect, for future renovations to the golf course. - Staff size - 1 Superintendent, 2 Assistant Superintendents, Irrigation Technician, Assistant-in-Training, Shop Manager, 2 Assistant Mechanics, 17 equipment operators, and 2 temporary laborers all full-time.
- Equipment - a mixed fleet of Toro and John Deere, 20% of the fleet is leased.
- Rounds of golf - 17,000 between the months of November and May, closed other months.
- Irrigation system - Rain Bird Central Control, Mix of Toro and Rainbird heads.
- 14 Har-Tru tennis courts, croquet courts.
- In the last five years, eight assistants-in-training have moved on to higher-level positions in the industry.
- Typical work weeks - Monday through Thursday - 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Friday - 6:00 to 12:00 p.m., rotating weekend days; 6-10:30 a.m.

INITIAL PRIORITIES OF POSITION: - Get to know the team, culture, operations, and daily workflow to maximize communication.
- Meets to collaborate with the other Assistant Superintendents and the Golf Course Superintendent to plan day-to-day maintenance operations on the golf course, before staff meetings and at the end of each workday.
- Assists in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety, and personnel training and development.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: - Salary - $70,000-$85,000.

KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, APTITUDE AND OTHER TRAITS: - Collaborate with the Golf Course Superintendent and other department heads to plan daily maintenance activities.
- Develop strong relationships with the Golf Shop staff to enhance the overall golfing experience.
- Assist in routine maintenance, irrigation repair, tournaments, and special projects as directed.
- Program the golf course irrigation system, and operate and oversee record keeping of the Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, ensuring optimal performance.
- Maintain accurate records related to course maintenance, water sampling, and other projects.
- Directly supervise department employees, including training, work assignments, performance appraisal, and conflict resolution.
- Monitor the daily progress of employees and adjust tasks as needed for efficient time management.
- Meets with Equipment Tech to plan and discuss equipment needs.
- Responsible for directing and completing the maintenance standards set forth by the Greens Committee and uses professional interpretation when making and communicating changes or adjustments to achieve these standards.
- Assists in golf course preparation during seasonal months including mowing, spraying, and course set-up.
- Responsible for the completion of the cultural practices schedule during the summer months.
- Assists in the completion of projects on the Golf Course, Grounds, and Tennis areas, and oversees contractors during summer projects.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - Certificate, A Two or four-year degree in Turf Grass Management or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Prefer at least 4 years. of experience in golf course maintenance, turf and grounds maintenance, plant and tree care, fertilizer and pesticide application, irrigation and drainage system maintenance; or equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising and teaching golf course maintenance crews to achieve desired results through effective communication, observing, and redirecting on the Course through ongoing verbal feedback.
- Prefer a valid Florida Driver's License, Pesticide Applicator's License, and Florida BMP Certification.
