Vero Beach Country Club is looking for qualified applicants for our Equipment Manager position. VBCC is a private member owned country club founded in 1924 in Vero Beach Florida. We will be celebrating our centennial next year and this presents a great opportunity for the right individual to be a part of that historic event. VBCC is also the host site of the Grapefruit Pro-Am which is the oldest Pro-Am in the state of Florida. The equipment manager will report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and be responsibility for maintaining all equipment assets related to the Golf Course Maintenance Department. We believe in a strong work/life balance and the schedule will reflect that. Our typical work schedule is a long Monday of about 10 hours, 8 hours Tuesday-Thursday, 5 hours Friday and 4 hour shifts Saturday and Sunday. This position may be required to work every 3rd weekend as needed with a day off during the week if you work the weekend. We will also occasionally need help for special events such as the Pro-Am, Member Guest, and Club Championships. The weekend schedule is open for discussion.

Duties include but are not limited to: Major and minor mechanical repairs on a variety of gasoline and diesel powered equipment Maintains all equipment in efficient and operable conditions at all times Sets, as a primary goal, a preventative maintenance program for building and equipment Mower and reel grinding/sharpening Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in the many types of golf course maintenance machines Installs and adjusts brakes. Installs batteries, tires, wiring and glass Does carburetor or welding work in making fittings used in automotive equipment. Occasionally does automotive painting and/or body/fender repair work Supervises, trains and oversees the work of the Assistant Mechanic Perform periodic inventories of all equipment and tools with the assistance of the Club Controller Maintains pumps on application equipment Ensures all petroleum products and chemicals are used, stored, and disposed of according to local, state, and federal regulations Workplace: Must be able to keep workplace clean and free of obstacles Frequent exposure to moving parts and elevated noise levels from equipment Occasional exposure to fumes and chemicals used in the workplace Must be able to move/lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 100 pounds occasionally Must be able to squat, hunch, sit, stand, and use arms and hands to work on equipment constantly Must be able to work in hot and humid conditions Ability create standard operating procedures for all types of equipment Qualifications: Several years of progressive golf course maintenance experience preferred Extensive experience with various cutting units preferred Familiarity with Toro and John Deere equipment CTEM certification a plus |
