Position Overview: The Fox Chapel Golf Club is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Golf Course Superintendent to join our prestigious top 100 golf course. As the Golf Course Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the overall quality and playability of the golf course. Your expertise will be essential in upholding the course's reputation for excellence and providing an exceptional experience for our members and guests.  The Golf Course Superintendent, under the supervision and direction of the General Manager, will oversee approximately 20 full-time and 12 seasonal/part-time employees. He/She will be responsible for managing 140 acres of club grounds including: 18 holes of golf, maintenance facility buildings, clubhouse landscaping, garden, irrigation pump station and driving range, while ensuring the best interest of the Club are met and protected. It is essential that the successful candidate maintains standard operating procedures to uphold the quality and attention to detail our members have come to expect for a Seth Raynor designed course.

He/She will oversee and manage the performance of all golf maintenance-related activities and services. The Golf Course Superintendent will work cooperatively with all department managers, especially the Head Golf Professional, and will promote the long-standing tradition of world class services at Fox Chapel Golf Club.   

Responsibilities:

• Course Maintenance: Oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance operations, including turfgrass care, irrigation systems, landscaping, and equipment management.  Ensure that the course meets the highest standards of playability, aesthetics, and safety.

• Turfgrass Management: Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic programs to optimize turf health and quality.  Monitor and address issues related to disease, pests, and environmental factors that could impact course conditions.

• Irrigation Management: Efficiently manage the irrigation system to provide proper water distribution across the course while minimizing water consumption.  Stay updated on irrigation technologies and practices to improve system efficiency.

• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of skilled groundskeepers and maintenance staff.  Foster a positive work environment, provide training, and set performance expectations to ensure a cohesive and productive team.

• Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage annual budgets for course maintenance operations, equipment purchases, and personnel.  Make informed decisions to optimize resource allocation and maintain financial responsibility. 

• Course Improvement Projects: Collaborate with golf course architects and management to plan and execute course improvement projects.  This includes renovations aimed at enhancing the Club’s course and practice facilities.

• Environmental Stewardship: Implement sustainable practices that minimize the golf course’s impact on the environment.  Ensure compliance with local regulations and best practices in turf management and conservation.

• Equipment Maintenance: Oversee maintenance and repair of golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring that all machinery is in proper working condition.  Develop a routine maintenance schedule and manage equipment inventory.

• Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with club management, golf professionals, and members to provide updates on course conditions, maintenance schedules, and upcoming projects.  Address member concerns and feedback promptly and professionally.  Provides support to the Committee of the Green and any other Club Committees as involved.
