Stillwater Country Club, located in Stillwater, Oklahoma, is currently seeking to hire a Golf Course Superintendent. This individual is responsible for all aspects of the golf course maintenance, landscaping of clubhouse area and parking lot maintenance. The responsibilities include: turf grass/plant material maintenance programs, asset management, personnel management, budget/forecasting, financial management, scheduling/maintenance of irrigation systems, pesticide applications, related recordings and compliance of regulatory issues. The Golf Course Superintendent works to create an environment where staff is involved and enthusiastic, with open communications and respect for themselves, members, guests and the property.

Reports directly to the General Manager
Oversees the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees on the facility grounds.
Responsible for all phases of golf maintenance and agronomic operations, cost control and personnel.
Works closely with Board on any issues related to golf course maintenance.
Designs and implements landscape plans for facility grounds.
Recruits/interviews, hires, supervises, retains and discharge of maintenance staff.
Provides technical, operational and safety training for employees to ensure staff is working within the required health and safety regulations.
Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the Club’s grounds in compliance with all regulations.
Supervises and controls all maintenance expenses associated with maintenance, including payroll, supplies, chemicals, and fertilizers.
Develops annual operating budget and plans for maintenance and improvement projects.
Schedules maintenance practices around member play to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption to members.
Manages and maintains club properties, which include a) golf course b) maintenance equipment c) clubhouse grounds and landscaping d) tennis and pickleball courts, swimming pool landscape and other recreational facilities e) open spaces, wooded areas, unused acreage, and areas outside the perimeter of the Club f) any other properties as specified in writing by the Board.
Construction, renovation and/or reconstruction of such properties, whether performed by maintenance staff or outside contractors.
Coordinates operations with the club manager, Board and/or golf professional.
Communicates and coordinates with all relevant membership and committees.
Works closely with Board to operate course in a fiscally responsible and professional manner.
Administers and enforces all Club rules, regulations, and policies for staff.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
3-5 years’ experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or 1st Assistant.
2-year degree or certificate in turf management or related field.
Pesticide Application License preferred.
Knowledge of management and maintenance of greens, fairways, and roughs.
Ability to operate standard equipment and tools used in golf course maintenance.
Knowledge of safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products.
Strong ability to lay out irrigation patterns, drainage patterns, construct tees and/or greens.
Well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Ability to promote positive relations with members, guests, and staff.
Strong ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
Ability to work irregular hours & weekends.

About Stillwater Country Club
Stillwater Country Club is a private 18-hole facility designed by Donald Sechrest in 1966. The club is a parkland style located in a beautiful neighborhood in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The greens were redesigned and renovated in 1999 by Mark Hayes. The clubhouse was renovated in 2012 and new pickleball courts, tennis court, pool, pool house, and fitness center were built in 2022.
Stillwater Country Club hosted the 1973 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship, 1979 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship as well as many other state and junior championships. Home of the Oklahoma State Golf Teams from 1979-1994.
Stillwater Country Club is a family-oriented facility and an active and growing membership. We average approximately 20,000 rounds of golf annually.
