Assistant Superintendent

This position gives the assistant a unique opportunity to be a part of a professional tournament environment, bunker restoration project and be part of the decisions made each and every day on the golf course. The assistant’s primary responsibilities will be to develop as a manager especially in proper moisture management, scouting abilities, team management and improving their eye for detail through quality control. UMCC has prided itself in staying on the leading edge of the ever changing technological landscape, using tools such as GPS Sprayers, Toro Lynx, Playbooks, digital job platforms and much more. UMCC also prides itself in preparing its assistants to become Superintendents at their own pace, having produced 3 Superintendents in the last 5 years. UMCC is looking for an assistant who wants to be a part of a place with a rich history and that provides the Turf Management Team the resources and tools necessary to help our professional team improve the property and themselves going forward. The assistant superintendent will work with the Turf Management Team in all aspects of golf course maintenance. This includes but is not limited to: crew management, irrigation, project work, fertilizer & pesticide applications, record keeping, scouting and water management. We each work six days a week in season and 5 day work weeks in the winter. Additionally, we arrange at least one 3-day weekend in season to recharge the batteries. Upcoming Projects & Events: -2024 LPGA Cognizant Founders Cup (May) -Wall Restoration Project (started in 2022 and will continue each fall until complete) -Bunker Restoration Project (beginning Fall of 2024)

The position requires at least 1 year of golf course experience. We are looking for individuals who work well in a team environment, a basic comprehension of computer skills, have a passion for turfgrass, golf, and individuals who are motivated to improve themselves and the golf course daily. Spanish speaking is a plus but not a requirement. Assistant must have earned a 2-4 year degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management or a related field. |
Additional Salary Information: Housing available. Also includes Local and National Association Dues and Educational Seminars, Meals, Uniform, Golf Privileges, opportunity to attend Greens Committee Meetings, Health, Dental, 401k, Vacation and Personal Time, plus Annual Performance Bonus.
