Chemical Technician

The technician is responsible for properly and safely mixing and applying herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides to golf courses and areas assigned.

The spray technician will pay close attention to weather and adjust applications as necessary.

Job Tasks

• Appropriately apply all chemicals associated with grounds and golf maintenance.
• Responsible for reading , understanding and keeping current with Safety Data Sheets and pesticide labels
• Maintain application equipment chemical storage and mixing area in compliance with county, state and federal regulations.
• MUST be very organized and clean to ensure safety
• Perform safe mechanical operation and calibration of application equipment
• Must operate all equipment in a safe manner at all times
• Inspect (Scout) all areas to determine pesticide and fertility need and bring these findings to the superintendent to plan accordingly
• Implement Integrated Pest Management
• Maintain product inventory and have excellent recordkeeping
• May have other daily task as assigned by management

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to moving parts, airborne particles, toxic and caustic chemicals and ever-changing weather conditions
• Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position
• Regularly be able to lift and push 50-75 lbs. 
• Use PPE as required per label recommendations such as but limited to : respirators, gloves ,earplugs, eye protection ,boots, long shelves and pants
• Must be Available on Weekends and Holidays, especially mornings
