The Agronomy Department at Green Island Country Club is looking for their next Assistant Superintendent! Upward growth in your career path MUST be a factor in accepting this position. We do not support stagnation and work hard to prepare assistants for the next step. The successful candidate will have a great attitude towards others, his/her work and their careers. An exceptional work ethic will be critical to be a part of the turf management team at Green Island. The 2nd assistant will be involved in all day to day tasks of managing a golf course. He/She will aide the senior assistant and superintendent in carrying out cultural, chemical, and fertilizer applications, managing daily job boards, course enhancement projects, irrigation troubleshooting and other key turf management decision making . Our staff includes 12 full-time, 4-6 part-time (seasonal), 2 assistants, and 1 equipment manager.
Candidate must be able to lift/carry 50+lbs. Must be able to work in all kinds of weather and have the flexibility to work some weekends and holidays. Candidate must be willing to work 40-50hrs per week. Candidate must be, at minimum, enrolled in the final year of a turf program at a University or College.
Green Island Country Club’s golf course opened in 1961, featuring a George Cobb and Joe Lee design with rolling hills sitting just off the Chattahoochee River. Integrating beauty with a challenge, the Green Island Golf Course is lined with mature pine trees from the tee to the green, Champion ultra dwarf-Bermuda greens, and 419 Bermudagrass tees, fairways, and rough. Featuring an up and down layout, the course is a par 71 that is 6,512 yards from the longest tees, with a slope rating of 136 and a 72.1 USGA rating. Six sets of tees offer play for various skill levels making the course a unique challenge to both novice and seasoned veterans.
