Job Summary/ScopeManages technical work associated with care, maintenance, playing conditions and operation of the golf course. Schedules work of employees, purchases and maintains equipment and purchases supplies. Supervisory ResponsibilityIntegral to the position of Superintendent of Golf Course is the responsibility for developing subordinates to their fullest potential by exercising appropriate degrees of coaching, training, guiding, evaluating, correcting and, if necessary, disciplining. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Material and Equipment Directly UsedUses a variety of vehicles ranging from trucks, tractors, bobcat, backhoe and related golf course equipment and construction equipment. Hand tools including manual and electric. Tools/machines relating to sharpening reels and mowers. Office equipment such as computer and related software programs, telephone, hand radio, and calculator. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required. Working Environment/Physical RequirementsThis work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting, speaking or hearing, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, tasting or smelling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts, working in high, precarious places, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibration; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic). Passing of a drug screening required prior to appointment.
