Avalon Golf Club in Burlington, Washington is hiring for the position of assistant superintendent. Avalon is a 27-hole Robert Muir Graves design that opened in 1991. A public course that is privately owned, Avalon has hosted qualifiers for the U.S. Open and the P.G.A. Championship.
Avalon is owned by the same family that built the 27-hole golf course over 30 years ago.
The assistant will answer directly to the superintendent. The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge in all aspects of golf course management, specifically irrigation repair experience.
A strong candidate would be a current irrigation tech ready to step up into an assistant superintendent position.
Duties will include directing and participating in the day to day operation of the golf course. The assistant will have the knowledge to perform all golf course maintenance jobs and be able to train staff and new hires in each of these jobs.
Included in the assistant's duties will be irrigation repair (with our irrigation tech), as well as assisting and supervising our spray tech. A Washington State Pesticide License will be obtained within a year of hire.
Irrigation repair experience.
The ability to apply plant protectants.
General knowledge of all aspects of golf course maintenance.
A strong work ethic.
