Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

POSITION DETAILS

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for assisting the Golf Course Superintendent with management, direction, and leadership of all golf course and grounds operations. The Assistant will help ensure the goals of both the department and the Club are being met. With a very high degree of personal ethics and professional integrity, the Assistant will be a proactive, self-motivated team player, with the experience and ability to build a strong team, as well as partner with other departments.

Responsibilities include:

• Hires, schedules, trains, supervises, and evaluates department personnel.
• Coordinates and schedules daily tasks / course setup and servicing.
• Maintains accurate work records for personnel in the department, including timecard approvals.
• Develops staff and fosters an environment where employees are working in the best and most efficient ways possible to achieve department goals.
• Assists with planting, fertilizing, care and removal of turf, plants, shrubs, trees, and other facilities on the golf course.
• Inspects course regularly to evaluate and recommend improvements to help maintain course in proper playing condition.
• Provides assistance with construction, maintenance and renovations on the golf course.
• Helps with purchasing supplies and purchase proposals from golf course vendors.
• Assists with selection of and preparation of proper fertilizers and nutrients for flora and fauna.
• Supports Irrigation Manager with development and maintenance of drainage, irrigation and watering systems, minor water line repairs, and may perform other necessary repairs in an emergency.
• Implements and enforces comprehensive safety program in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
• Assists Golf Course Superintendent with preparation of annual budget for department in order to meet budget goals.
• Works closely with Golf Course Superintendent and other Assistant Superintendents to establish short-and long-range plans for the golf course.
• Performs golf course maintenance tasks as assigned by Golf Course Superintendent, and other tasks as directed.
