Omni Interlocken Resort & Spa is seeking a Superintendent to join our outstanding Golf Course Maintenance team! This vital role will work closely with the General Manager and Golf Course Maintenance Leaders to oversee successful execution of all operations relating to the Golf Course Maintenance department, resulting in high levels of guest satisfaction and associate development. This highly motivated individual will ensure the maintenance and operation of the golf course as well as all communication with management and related departments.

Salary range for this position (based on experience): $110,000 - $120,000/year. Full Time Associates at Omni Interlocken Resort are entitled to elect the following benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision and other healthcare benefits, Paid Maternity Leave, 401k and Paid Time Off Accrual. Omni Interlocken Resort reserves the right to pay more or less than listed compensation scale based on factors not related to sex or race.

  • Assist in the budget development and is entrusted to operate and manage efficiently and effectively within the approved budget guidelines for the 27 hole golf course operation.
  • Assists with the coordination and oversight of all golf course construction and renovation projects for the 18 hole golf course operation.
  • Supervise, train and inspect golf course maintenance staff in performing complex cultural tasks including fertilization, pesticide applications, mowing, aerifying, topdressing, irrigation repairs and irrigation computer programming and all other golf course maintenance procedures.
  • Oversee the process of interviewing, hiring, counseling, training and disciplining all 27 hole golf course maintenance associates in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Coordinate and communicate with fellow Assistant Superintendent, mechanics and administrative staff.
  • Maintains accurate records pertaining to employees, chemicals, fertilization, accidents and any other record keeping requirements.
  • Reports any discrepancies in safety, improper equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Supervise the operation, maintenance and repair of all golf course equipment in the best interest of owner.
  • Assists in annual budget and capital improvement requests.
  • Reports and recommends any changes to procedures or training.
  • Attend all company required training sessions; financial, safety, managerial, human resources, staff meetings and meetings with members as required.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in golf course and turf management required.
  • Minimum of 4 years as a Golf Course Superintendent / Assistant Superintendent at a multi-coursed facility required.
  • A degree or advanced education pertaining to the science of golf course management preferred.
  • Aptitude for administrative and executive responsibilities including effective oral and written communication skills and computer proficiency.
  • Must obtain and maintain state sanctioned pesticide application certification within 6 months of employment
  • Thorough understanding of the proper use of fertilizers and their application
  • Thorough understanding of the proper use of chemicals and their application.
  • Thorough understanding of the proper irrigation of turf as it relates to turf health and course conditioning.
  • Ability to prepare the golf course for play according to the rules of golf.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include holidays and weekends.
  • Valid Drivers license.
