Country Club of Paducah: Founded in 1902, the Country Club of Paducah remains the premier full service, private club in Western Kentucky offering impeccable amenities and service: - 18-hole Robert Trent Jones, Sr. course, Zoysia fairways and tees (conversion to Zoysia occurred in 2014)

- Four indoor tennis courts provide all season play (pickle ball offered with play on tennis courts), three outdoor clay courts, three outdoor hard courts
- Olympic size outdoor pool and separate pool for younger children
In the late 1970s, when the Country Club of Paducah embarked on the concept of a new 18-hole golf course, they went to the top for a course designer. The choice was Robert Trent Jones, Sr., who is credited with making golf course architecture an art form. Jones built or remodeled some of the most famous courses in the United States and in the world. He is credited with 400 courses in 45 states and 35 countries, with more than 36 of them at one time host to a national or international championship. Position Summary: The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall management and maintenance of the golf course and grounds. This includes, but is not limited to, course set-up, agronomy, staff supervision, budgeting, and irrigation. Additionally, there will be long-term goals and projects set by the board of directors, that will be expected to be met. The Golf Course Superintendent will collaborate closely with the General Manager to ensure the golf course is maintained at the highest level and is ready for play. They will also be responsible for ensuring that the golf course is in compliance with all environmental regulations. Duties & Responsibilities: - Maintain the golf course and all practice facilities in playing conditions to the maintenance standards set by the greens committee and approved by the board of directors.
- Schedules, trains, supervises, and evaluates all personnel assigned to department
- Prepare the annual operating budget for the golf course and submit it to the Board of Directors for approval. Takes corrective action as necessary to help assure that budget goals are met.
- Develop long-range plans for the improvement of the golf course and its facilities
- Select and purchase all chemicals, fertilizers, and other supplies needed to maintain the golf course
- Apply chemicals and fertilizers to the golf course according to established schedules and procedures
- Develops and maintains drainage, irrigation, and watering systems.
- Oversees repairs of broken water lines or valves and may perform necessary repairs in an emergency
- Operate and maintain all equipment used on the golf course
- Inspect the golf course daily and react to any unforeseen issues as they arise
- Supervises operation of the equipment repair shop & maintains all equipment based on their owner’s manual
- Ensures proper landscaping for property outside of golf course including the clubhouse and surrounding areas.
- Meet with the greens committee & general manager on a regular basis to discuss problems and recommend solutions. Provide a monthly report to the Greens Committee.
- Attends other committee meetings as required.
- Determines when course should be closed due to weather conditions that may damage the course if play continues.
- Be aware of new developments in turfgrass management and share information with staff and others as appropriate
- Understand the rules of golf and be up-to-date on federal, state, and local laws on golf course operations.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors or General Manager.
- Perform clay court installation and maintenance.
Experience Required: - Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, horticulture, or related field
- 5+ years’ experience as a golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent
- Pesticide Applicators License
- Working knowledge of turfgrass science and maintenance practices
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
- Experience managing Zoysia and bentgrass in the transition zone
- Experience managing Toro irrigation
