| We are a fully private golf and social club with an 18-hole championship golf course designed by architect Mike Riley. The front and back nine offer two very different yet distinctive personalities. The signature hole number 17, 378 par 4 requires an accurate tee shot from an elevated tee to set up an approach over the water to an island green.
We are specifically looking to give a Assistant Superintendent their big break! Applicant must come from a top tier golf course. Responsible for all phases of Golf Maintenance and Agronomic operations, cost control, and personnel. - You will report directly to the General Manager/COO - there are no boards or committees.
- Directs and participates in the construction and maintenance of the grounds, including overseeing independent contractors for upcoming projects.
- Must be able to work independently and be a self-starting problem solver.
Primary Duties: - Oversees the care and maintenance of the turf and landscaping of the facility grounds.
- Recruits, supervises and retains maintenance staff.
- Oversees subordinates in proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment. Plans and budgets for additional or replacement capital equipment.
- Responsible for the repair and maintenance of the irrigation system.
- Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the Club's grounds in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Supervises and controls all maintenance expenses associated with golf course operations, including payroll, supplies, chemicals and fertilizers.
- Inspects course regularly to evaluate and recommend improvements.
- Maintains records and completes required reporting. Order parts, supplies and equipment as needed.
Knowledge & Skills Required: - Must have top tier private club experience
- Knowledge of maintenance of fairways, roughs, and Zoysia greens.
- Knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools.
- Skill in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating and motivating personnel.
- Knowledge of safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products.
- Ability and knowledge of irrigation, drainage, tees and greens construction.
- 3-5 years experience as a Assistant Superintendent
- 2-year Degree or Certificate in Turf Management (or related field, like agronomy, horticulture, plant science, soil science).
- Pesticide Application License
- Class A Certification (or working toward Certification) by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America
Job Type: Full-time Salary: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
