Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Courses are a 36-hole facility located in the famed Monterey Bay. We are minutes from several top 100 golf courses. The golf courses were renovated in 2006-2008 and added a site for a hotel and resort that will begin construction in 2023. There are several private communities around the property. There will be more renovations done to the golf course in the upcoming future.
The equipment technician/mechanic at a golf course is a unique position, but with great rewards. It offers a variety of tasks and machines to work on so the job does not become stale. We strive to keep the position up to date on technologies and machinery. The position is always advancing their education, whether through classes or from our Head Equipment Technician.
The ideal applicant would have
working knowledge of the following:
two and four cycle engines
reel and rotary mowers
facing bed knife
setting height of cut on a daily basis
sharpening of rotary blades.
Maintaining a preventative maintenance program for all equipment and scheduling and prioritizing appropriately.
Keeping accurate records of equipment maintenance procedures performed.
Helping supervise and train crew members in the proper and safe operation of all equipment.
Purchasing and maintaining equipment parts in inventory.
Communicating to ensure that equipment is safe and available for scheduled duties
Maintaining a clean and organized shop area.
Operating various pieces of equipment when needed.
Other duties deemed necessary by the superintendent.
Candidates must possess:
Willingness to learn, first and foremost
A strong work ethic and be able to work effectively with others.
A positive attitude.
Organizational skills and an attention to detail.
His/her own set of basic tools
Basic computer skills.
Must be punctual
