Philadelphia Cricket Club has a rich history as one of the oldest country clubs in the United States. We have 45 holes of golf between 3 golf courses. The original St Martins 9-hole course which hosted the 1907 and 1910 U.S. Open Golf Championship; The Wissahickon Course, designed by PCC member A.W. Tillinghast built in 1922 and currently ranked the 38th best classic golf course in the U.S.; and The Militia Hill Course designed by Hurdzan and Fry that opened in 2002.
The Original PCC Campus, located in Chestnut Hill, PA also includes 18 grass tennis courts, 10 har-tru courts, 7 platform tennis courts, indoor tennis courts, squash courts, swimming pool and 4 newly installed Padel courts.
The club prides itself on creating a good work environment for the turf staff while they are at PCC but also preparing them for their own superintendent job when they are ready to apply for their own head job. It is a club that provides an accelerated and diverse learning experience as well as an expansive network and networking opportunities to aid in career advancement and also values work / life balance for employees. Assistants will get two days off a week to ensure a work / life balance and will also have opportunities to volunteer at tournaments and have the ability to sign up for further education seminars and classes to better themselves professionally.
The assistant will work directly with the Superintendent and the Director of Grounds in daily planning, scheduling, and supervising of all golf course maintenance activities. The assistant superintendent will have the chance to take part in project management, monthly budgeting, chemical and fertilizer record keeping, scheduling, and applications as well as labor tracking.
In 2024, PCC will be hosting the 2024 U.S Amateur Four Ball Championship and looking to start work on a new practice range and short game area at the Flourtown Campus.
