Assistant Superintendent

Primary Function:

Responsible for a diverse range of activities involved in golf course maintenance and construction.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greets members and guests with a smile and takes care of their needs.
• Assists in supervising repairs and maintenance of all mechanic and motorized equipment.
• Instructs Equipment Operators in the safe, efficient operation and care of equipment.
• Assists in supervising and maintenance of pumps, irrigation and drainage systems.
• Supervises the daily preparation of the golf course, i.e. hole location, tee markers, rakes, hazard and out of bounds markers.
• Performs sprayer and fertilizer spreaders calibration.
• Assists in spraying pesticides, applying fertilizers on greens, tees and fairways.
• Inspects turf, shrubs, and other outdoor Club areas to assess pesticide and fertilizer needs and applies as needed to maintain excellent condition of grounds and golf course.
• Responds proactively to any needs that arise from members, employees, or guests.
• Maintains inventory of products, chemical storage areas and mixing area in compliance with state regulations.
• Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment, as appropriate.
• Represents the club with the utmost of professionalism.
• Maintains accurate records on all equipment.
• Trains on and enforces all safety policies and procedures.
• Follows safety guidelines described in the operating procedures and generally practices behavior that ensures the safety of the employee, co-workers, members, and guests.
• Complies with departmental grooming standards.
• Works variety of shifts, as needed to include nights, weekends and/or holidays.
• Complies with departmental and Club policies and procedures.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
